DK Whisper GT Maintenance Checklists

Every flight:

  1. Location - Check surrounding area for prop/pulley hazards.
  2. Frame & Prop Guard - Check frame for cracks, loose bolts/nuts, loose or broken lines.
  3. Harness - Check all belts, material for tears, worn or burnt parts of harness.
  4. Propeller - Check for cracks, chips in blades; sufficient prop and guard clearance; loose or missing prop bolts/nuts.
  5. Gas tank - Remove cap. Check inside/outside for cracks, dirt or deposits; check bolts under tank and clearance from engine on top. Verify fuel level.
  6. Crankshaft - Turn prop slowly, listen for compression, check for "grinding metal" sound.
  7. Reduction unit - Check for loose bolts, cracks in support brackets.
  8. Reduction belt - Check for proper tracking, belt squarely in pulley track. Check for worn spots on belt.
  9. Crankcase - Check for cracks, oil leaks.
  10. Cylinder head - Check for cracks, oil leaks.
  11. Spark plug - Check color of plug, look for carbon deposits.
  12. Throttle lever - Level moves freely, cable moves and returns.
  13. Kill switch - Button depresses and returns.
  14. Recoil rope - Check for wear, tears or frayed places; rope extends and returns automatically.
  15. Starter motor - Pinion gear engages and returns.
  16. Wiring - Check for broken wires, loose connections.
  17. Battery - Check for loose terminals, heat bubbles, corrosion, etc.
  18. Carburetor - Check idling, mid-range and full power acceleration.
  19. Muffler - Check for cracks, loose band or bolts.

Every 5 hours:

  1. Spark plug - Check color of plug, look for carbon deposits, check gar clearance .6mm (.5mm?)

Every 10 hours:

  1. Air cleaner - Remove and wipe clean. If excessively dirty clean with soap and water.
  2. Fuel filter - Remove from gas tank and clean with wire brush, blow with compressed air.
  3. Air funnel - Wipe with cloth, check for cracks.
  4. Muffler - Check for cracks, loose band or bolts; run finger inside exhaust pipe. Should be oily.

Every 50 hours:

  1. Compression - Compression reading should be...?
  2. Piston rings - Remove muffler, visual check of rings for broken areas.
  3. Cylinder wall - Check for burns near exhaust port, sides of wall.
