Barn Hollow Nature Preserve

Roads

Improved Dirt Road & Unimproved Dirt Road

I'm not sure why the Forest Service calls one of these roads "improved".  Both of them are so overgrown they can't be followed using the original old maps.  The trees have a 2-3 inch diameter in the middle of the roads.  The only real road is our driveway.  It's rather disturbing that the Forest Service has a sign that says "Foot Travel Welcome" when they don't even have a maintained trail.  This situation can be resolved with time.

Fire Access Road

This old fire access road is one of the interesting back-roads going into the forest.  It gives you a good feel of what the surrounding area has to offer in comparison with the property we have for sale.  At the north end of the road you find several foot trails heading off into different directions.  Including a very nice one heading down to Bangor Cave.
